Statistical Investigation


Lake Waihonu was rolled 20 of 66 / 40:132 times. Marama Island was rolled 31 of 66 / 62:132 times and Mount Albury was rolled 15 of 66 / 30:132 times.
They should go to Marama Island because it was rolled more than %50 compared to the others.

Tsunamis are killing people in Japan!


WALT - conduct a statistical investigation.
Success criteria: I know this when I gather data and graph it using a Google Spreadsheet.

  1. The years 1496 & 1707 had the same number of deaths: 30,000.
  2. Year 1303 has the lowest total of deaths: 660.
  3. 1293 is the earliest year that Japan had a Tsunami.

Do you prefer big or small pets?

WALT- examine and interpret data.
I know this when I collect data and graph the information.
1. Hamsters and other pets tied.
2. Dogs are the most loved pet.
3. The lowest scores in the chart was zero.

Our mintie challenge in Room 6!


WALT - read and interpret the graph of a statistical investigation.
I know this when I write four statements about the Mintie Challenge.
Statements :
1. 2 people got less than 20cm.
2. Lots of students got more than 50cm.
3. The teachers almost got the same length as each other.
4. 2 people got more than 90cm.

This chart shows that it is highly possible to get different lengths, using the same paper. This depends on how patient and careful you are with the wrapper.

Room 6's chart of our favourite fruits!


WALT - understand and interpret information on a graph.
I know this when I can write 2 statements about the chart.
1. What was the favourite fruit? Orange was the favourite fruit because they are sweeter than all the other fruits.
2. What was the least favourite fruit and why? Pear because it is not as sweet or juicy.
